Creating A Masterpiece.
Each piece begins as a hand-drawn sketch, capturing the essence of the design. From there, it's carefully carved in wax, bringing the idea to life in three dimensions. The wax model is then sent off for casting in precious metal. Once cast, the piece undergoes meticulous finishing and polishing before being hallmarked, ensuring authenticity and quality.
It starts with a Sketch…
It all begins with an idea. Every piece begins with an initial sketch — a hand-drawn concept that captures the spirit and form of the design. This is where the story starts, on paper, with careful attention to detail and proportion.
A carving from wax…
Once the design feels right on paper, the next step is to carve it by hand in wax. A wax model is meticulously hand-carved. This stage brings the design into three dimensions, allowing for refinement of texture, depth, and shape.
This model is a fragile but vital step — a one-of-a-kind original that captures the spirit of the piece before it becomes metal.
Cast in fire and silver…
With the wax model complete, it’s then sent away to be cast using the traditional lost-wax casting method. This ancient technique replaces the wax with molten metal, creating a solid, enduring version of the design.
The transition from soft wax to strong silver is almost alchemical, preserving every fine detail while giving the piece weight, structure, and permanence.
Polished and Hallmarked…
Once cast, the piece is carefully finished and polished by hand. Edges are smoothed, surfaces refined, and details brought to life through careful craftsmanship.
The final touch is hallmarking — a mark of authenticity and quality. Each piece is officially stamped at the assay office, certifying the type and purity of the metal. It’s both a practical guarantee and a symbolic signature, affirming the craftsmanship and care that went into every stage of the making.
